Meet the Team: NUAA's Drug Checking Peer Lead Clancy (they/them). Clancy came to harm reduction through lived experience. A challenging trip sparked a curiosity about reagent testing, which led to volunteering with DanceWize NSW and eventually a chemistry degree. What started as wanting to understand what was in the bag turned into a career building peer-led services that actually keep people safer. Now over a year into the NSW drug checking trial, Clancy leads NUAA's peer teams across festival season. Training and supervising peer workers, running services in the field, and helping shape how drug checking fits into frontline health responses across NSW. For them, the best part is watching new peer workers grow into the role and building a team culture where lived experience drives the work. Off the clock, Clancy's a music producer, chronic tinkerer (home servers, automation, tools that solve problems nobody else had), and a festival-goer on both sides of the lanyard. #nuaa #harmreduction #community
