**TURN YOUR PHONE** Partnering with @dancewize_nsw was one of those projects that reminds you why research matters. Understand your community. Then package what keeps them safe in a format they respect and will seek out on their own. We wanted to draw people in to safety and education before they experienced harm. We wanted light, texture and colour to carry that feeling of safety and connection. We wanted volunteers to feel confident, capable, and proud of the work they do. We wanted to position DanceWize as leaders in Harm Reduction. To get there, we had to co-design. We had to measure. We had to ask for feedback. The DanceWize peer community is something else. Disability workers, doctors, OTs, McDonald’s senior leadership, electricians. You can imagine the lived experience and professional expertise in the room, and the conversations we got to have about operations, consumer experience, and environmental design. I cannot thank the co-design crew enough! I love research projects for this reason: at the start, we don’t know that everything we design will work. But by the end, we know exactly what works, why, and how to dial it up.
