⚠ Opioids have been found in cocaine in NSW ⚠
Six people recently presented to hospitals in Sydney and Western NSW with opioid overdoses after using what they thought was cocaine.
It only takes a small amount of opioids to cause a life threatening overdose.
How to spot an overdose:
- Pin-point pupils
- Difficulty speaking or walking
- Drowsiness
- Loss of consciousness
- Slow breathing/snoring
- Skin turning blue (if light skinned) or grey (if dark skinned)
Anyone who has taken a stimulant drug, such as cocaine, methamphetamine or MDMA and is experiencing unexpected symptoms, such as drowsiness, should call Triple Zero (‘000’) immediately or seek urgent medical attention. Naloxone should be given if available.
Naloxone can be ordered for FREE (+ shipping fee) as a nasal spray or injectable from the NUAA website (link in bio) or use the Your Room website to find your local NSP or pharmacy that stocks Naloxone.
